Woodbine-Mohawk Park | Selections Mon June 15,2026

6 min read

Monday, June 15th at Woodbine Mohawk Park kicks off another night of the popular “4 Nights Racing” series (Mon/Fri/Sat/Sun), with post time at 6:30 PM for the 95th racing day of the meet. Tonight’s card carries the $75,000 Guaranteed Early Pick 5, spanning races 1 through 5, giving horseplayers a nice carryover-style bonus pool to chase right from the opening bell.

The feature race of the night looks to be Race 6, a $16,000 conditioned pace for horses and geldings that’s drawn the most attention from Garnet Barnsdale in the Horseplayer’s Journal, who tags #4 P L OZZY as his spot play. Ozzy enters off back-to-back eye-catching efforts — a stunning 55-1 upset where he rallied from off the pace, followed by an easy romp in a Preferred Handicap at Kawartha Downs. Looking for the threepeat, he draws into a field that also includes #1 Blue Bar, who tripped out for a Grand River Preferred win last week, and #2 Twin B Courageous, fresh off his first win of the season. This race also kicks off the night’s Late Pick 5 (races 6-10), so it’s a key betting race on top of being the marquee matchup on paper.

Beyond that, the early Pick 4 (races 7-10) and Pick 6 (races 4-9) give plenty of multi-race options, and the card is well supported with sponsor promotions tied to Johnnie Walker, Ketel One, and the King’s Plate on August 15th getting a plug as well

RACE 1 – $18,000 Pace, 4YO & Younger, NW1 Race

  1. #6 VELA LUKA (2-1) – Two wins in three qualifiers with a strong final effort, drew the rail with the top driver/trainer combo for his debut.
  2. #8 DRIVE FOR SHOW (7-2) – Improving every start, showed real speed from the widest post last week and finished with a broken hopple while still racing on.
  3. #7 AMERICAN ROAD TRIP (3-1) – Closed for second in the fastest mile of his career last week and has been competitive in 3 of last 4 starts.
LONGSHOT: #4 GRANITE SEELSTER (4-1) – Flashed home in 26 4/5 in his last qualifier and finished just 3 lengths behind Vela Luka, dangerous in his debut with a live driver switch to Roy.

RACE 2 – $15,000 Pace, Claiming Handicap $18,000-$24,000

  1. #4 VOLCANIC (9-2) – Has missed the board only once in 16 starts this season and just got nipped on the line last week after leading most of the way.
  2. #7 STICKEMINLETHIMGO (8-5) – Two easy wins at this level before stepping up; drops back into his comfort zone with a 20% trainer combo.
  3. #3 MAKEMEALEGEND (4-1) – Lowered his lifetime mark for his first win last week off the Demers claim and is sharper now than ever.
LONGSHOT: #1 ULYSSES (8-1) – Closed for a share in a 1:49 1/5 mile two back stepping up in class; this race could set up for a deep closer.

RACE 3 – $7,500 Fillies & Mares Claiming

  1. #7 ACEFORTYFOUR DAISY (3-1) – Two wins and a third in her last three starts at this track with aggressive early speed expected again.
  2. #2 SOLIDAZABRICKHOUSE (2-1) – Came within 3/4 length of catching the 4-5 favorite first-over two starts back and picks up the leading driver Macdonald.
  3. #5 CHASIN RAINBOWS (4-1) – Improved to a close fourth in her second start back, less than two lengths behind the favorite, and gets a live driver pick from Jamieson.
LONGSHOT: #9 KELLYS CHASE (7-2) – Was racing in a much tougher $20,000 claimer last week at Grand River; drops sharply in class and could pass tiring rivals late.

RACE 4 – $18,000 Pace, 4YO & Younger, NW1 Race

  1. #8 SATU WANIA (2-1) – Was a good second to Blue Jean Gal (who hadn’t lost since August) last time and raced well from a wide post in an OSS Gold event.
  2. #6 STORMONT SHANLYBOY (3-1) – Overcame serious interference last week (broke stride, lost lengths) yet still closed for second; gets the rail tonight.
  3. #5 IN SESSION (7-2) – Blowout qualifier win May 16th shows she’s ready, and she suffered stretch interference last week that cost her a better finish.
LONGSHOT: #2 DULCES SUENOS DEO (6-1) – Finished 2nd or 3rd nine times in 16 starts this season; consistently in the mix for the minor awards on tri/super tickets.

RACE 5 – $19,000 Trot, 5YO & Younger NW2

  1. #5 WALNERS GROVE (3-1) – Strong second-over closing effort last week producing a 27 4/5 final quarter; gets one of the best posts and a more aggressive drive expected.
  2. #4 D A MASSTERMIND (9-2) – Raced well in every start until a break on June 1st; his 4th-place OSS Gold mile two back stacks up well here.
  3. #2 NOTATTHETABLCARLOS (7-2) – Worked out a great trip last week for his maiden win and should again get positioned close to the pace.
LONGSHOT: #7 CAPTAIN CODE (2-1, but watch the price drift) – Talented sophomore who nearly won a Grand Circuit stake last year; the over month layoff could push his price up, making him a value play if he’s sharp.

RACE 6 – $16,000 Pace, NW Condition

  1. #4 P L OZZY (3-1) – Passed eight horses for a stunning 55-1 upset two starts back, then easily won a Preferred Handicap last out; draws well for the threepeat.
  2. #1 BLUE BAR (2-1) – Twice finished second to blowout winners in May, then tripped out for the win at Grand River last week in the Preferred.
  3. #2 TWIN B COURAGEOUS (9-2) – Took his first win of the season last Sunday and chased home the winning favorite three starts back after a first-over move; gets the rail tonight.
LONGSHOT: #9 MIRACULOUS DESBI N (7-2) – Was 4-5 and 3-5 favorite in his last two starts and just missed both times; can settle mid-pack and rally for a share.

RACE 7 – $19,000 Trot, 5YO & Younger NW2

  1. #2 MAIZE AND BLUE (8-5) – Was an “easier than it looked” winner over the even-money favorite last week after making multiple moves; still improving.
  2. #1 CAPTAIN NATHAN (7-2) – Trotted a strong 1:53 1/5 from the nine-hole in stakes company last week; faces much easier rivals tonight.
  3. #6 FOURTH GEAR (3-1) – Closed for second in an OSS Grassroots race off a fresh cycle, his only off-board finish came off a stale date (similar concern exists again, but ability is clear).
LONGSHOT: #10 BITOFTHEBUBBLY (12-1) – Has a strong late kick on his best night (won via a 27-flat third quarter power move) and could sneak into the bottom of the super at a big price.

RACE 8 – $18,000 Pace, 4YO & Younger, NW1 Race

  1. #1 STONEBRIDGE WINGS (8-5) – Closed well for second last week racing first-up after running into traffic; half-brother to a 1:54 trotter and looks ready to break through.
  2. #5 UP TO NO GOUDA (4-1) – Made a middle move to the half and led to the stretch last week, beaten just a half-length by the top pick; should get another aggressive drive.
  3. #4 SOLO TO LEXINGTON (9-5) – Got a clear trip on second-over cover in her qualifier and just missed; draws a much better post tonight for a more aggressive drive.
LONGSHOT: #7 MONKEY TALK (6-1) – Was better in his second career start (rallied for third) and closed for fourth last week; worth a look underneath in the exotics.

RACE 9 – $8,000 Claiming

  1. #4 TELLIT RUSS TELLIT (7-5) – Takes a big class drop after facing tougher handicap claimers in four of his last five; stands out on class alone.
  2. #5 ROYAL JK (4-1) – Took a win, second, third, and fourth in his four starts this season; gets post relief tonight for a better positioned trip.
  3. #6 SPINDOCTOR HANOVER (3-1) – Draws the best post and gets red-hot driver Doug McNair (29% with this barn) for the first time in a money race.
LONGSHOT: #8 BLAST OF SUNSHINE (8-1) – Has a good late kick on his best day; post 8 is far better than his recent 10-hole draws and he should be closer at the 3/4 by default.

RACE 10 – $14,000 Claiming Handicap ($20,000 NW $77,000 lifetime)

  1. #9 BOOTHILL HUDY (2-1) – Blasted to the front from a wide draw two back for a lifetime-best 1:52 2/5 win in this class, then fired right back with a third one day later.
  2. #7 COASTLINE (4-1) – Lowered his mark to 1:51 2/5 with a good trip three back and was caught in a tiring speed duel last week; capable of beating these with a cleaner trip.
  3. #6 SUMMER DANCER (6-1) – On a huge roll, winning 4 of his last 5 starts including a runaway win last time out; faces tougher but is razor sharp.LONGSHOT: #8 CATITUDE (7-2) – Has cashed in 5 straight starts at this exact class level (1 win, 2 seconds, 2 thirds) and showed speed from the 10-hole last week before fading late.
