Monday, June 15th brings live harness racing to Grand River Raceway in Elora, Ontario, with an 11-race card offering plenty of betting variety, including a $5,000 Guaranteed Pick 5 spanning races 1 through 5, plus a Late Pick 5 covering races 6 through 10 and a Late Pick 4 across races 7-10. Two Super Hi-5 wagers also headline the Preferred-class events tonight.
The feature races of the night are the two Preferred-class events — Race 5 (pace) and Race 11 (pace) — both carrying a $12,000 purse and drawing the toughest, most accomplished horses on the grounds. In Race 5, defending-class winner #9 Bold Spirit looks tough off a dominant 4-length win last out, but he’ll have to fend off #4 Wry and a tight Cheddar Bay, who’s been one of the most consistent cheque-getters at this level all spring.
Race 11 closes the card and might be the most interesting of the two — #7 Arties Ideal, a 10-year-old veteran who’s still winning at a high rate (6-for-7 this season), looks to wire the field again after a front-running score last time out, but Winchester Phoenix and Lamborghini Lou are both rounding into form and ready to pounce if he gets caught.
Beyond the Preferred features, the trotting Late Pick 5 (races 6-10) offers good value with several class-droppers and live trainer/driver combos throughout, making it a card with plenty of angles for horseplayers tonight.

RACE 1 – $8,000 Pace, NW $2,500 Last 4, AE Opt Claiming $12,500
- #5 COLD CREEK QUESO (2-1) – Closed for 4th in a Preferred Handicap at Kawartha last out, a clear class drop here and Haughan has good chemistry with him.
- #8 MAJOR HILL (4-1) – Won last out at this exact level (came from off the pace for the score) and has been competitive in all six starts this season.
- #6 GRIN AND WIN (7-2) – Finished second 8 times in 22 starts last year; closed for a close 3rd here last week and just missed a qualifier win two back.
LONGSHOT: #9 CONVOY TWENTY TWO (3-1) – Ten wins in 28 starts last season; been facing tougher in conditioned classes and a drop to this level with Maclellan in the bike could spark a turnaround.
RACE 2 – $8,000 Pace, Fillies & Mares NW $3,000 Lifetime
- #6 COPENHAGUE (4-1) – Closed for 3rd last week just behind the top two, showing solid late energy in only her 2nd lifetime start.
- #3 KAITLYN T (2-1) – Finished 2nd last week as the well-bet favorite, beaten only by a sharp winner; Tyler Moore drives his own horse.
- #5 HONEYWASH (9-2) – Rallied for 3rd last week after sitting a mid-pack trip; been knocking on the door with improving lines.
LONGSHOT: #10 BACK IN A FLASH (8-1) – Raced evenly for 6th last week but the steady improvement in recent lines (46-56-56-67½ to 6th) suggests she’s getting fitter; worth a small piece underneath.
RACE 3 – $10,000 Pace, NW $5,000 Last 4, AE Opt Claiming $20,000
- #5 TORONTO (4-1) – Closed for a tight 2nd last week after sitting 4th most of the way, and was 2nd again two starts back; he’s been knocking on the door in this class.
- #7 FRANCO SANTANA N (2-1) – Led most of the way last week before fading to 2nd, and has cashed in 4 of 5 starts this season; the natural speed should put him in the mix again.
- #4 CANT STOP LOU (9-2) – Dropping into a more favorable class after facing $20,000 handicap claimers; he won at this exact level just two back.
LONGSHOT: #10 HESTONATOR (3-1) – Was a dominant winner two starts back wiring the field by 3 lengths, then tired badly last week after setting a fast pace; if he sits a more conservative trip he can be a factor.
RACE 4 – $8,500 Pace, Fillies & Mares NW1 or $8,000 Lifetime
- #6 LADY CENTURY (3-1) – Closed for 2nd last week after working out a great trip, and won her qualifier impressively two starts back by 4½ lengths.
- #4 ANNE MAC (7-2) – Rallied for 3rd last week and won her start two back by 3¾ lengths; she’s been one of the most consistent in this group.
- #2 GROOVY BABY YEAH (2-1) – Won impressively last week from off the pace, drawing away by over a length; Travis Cullen/Jodie Cullen combo has her sharp.
LONGSHOT: #1 JAYPORT DIAMOND (6-1) – Won twice in her last five and just missed for the win two starts back; if she gets a clean trip from this group she has tactical speed to be dangerous.
RACE 5 – $12,000 Pace, Preferred (W/O $12,500 Last 4)
- #9 BOLD SPIRIT (7-2) – Won at this level last out by 4 lengths after sitting a perfect stalking trip, with strong recent form against this caliber.
- #4 WRY (2-1) – Closed for 2nd last week in a Preferred at Lon, showing he’s still competitive at this class with a live trainer (Demers).
- #10 CHEDDAR BAY (5-2) – Rallied for a close 2nd last week (Preferred class at Grand River) after a strong stretch move; consistent cheque-getter.
LONGSHOT: #7 HARBORLITE AMBROSE (10-1) – Won last out two starts ago wiring the field; dropped a bit in his last two but the underlying speed remains, live with Sorrie/Andrew (40% trainer win rate).
RACE 6 – $8,000 Pace, NW $2,500 Last 4, AE Opt Claiming $12,500
- #9 BOLD SPIRIT… (wait, this is the Trot race) — Let me restate:
- #9 NASEY (2-1) – Drops into a more favorable spot after racing in tougher conditioned classes most of last year, and the Cullen/Cullen combo gives him a live shot.
- #8 TYMAL RIGGS (7-2) – Closed for 2nd in a Preferred two starts back and was 3rd last out, both above this level; a clear class edge here.
- #1 ZIG ZAG (2-1) – Was a tight 3rd in a tougher conditioned race last out after leading much of the way; the class relief should help.
LONGSHOT: #10 JGS PAL (4-1) – Has cashed in 3 of his last 4, including a close 2nd in a $16,000 NW6000 race two back; the drop here gives him a clear class advantage.
RACE 7 – $12,000 Trot, Preferred (W/O $12,500 Last 4)
- #7 ARTIES IDEAL (3-1) – Won last out in a Preferred at Lon wiring the field; remains a strong, versatile veteran at this level.
- #2 HUNGRY HILL (9-2) – Won impressively two starts back by 1¾ lengths after sitting a perfect pocket trip; faded last week but the underlying speed is clear.
- #5 R ROYAL PORT (4-1) – Won two of his last four including a wire-to-wire effort, though he was overmatched last week stepping up; drops back to a more appropriate class.
LONGSHOT: #6 SHADRACK HANOVER (6-1) – Won impressively last week at Kawartha by 3½ lengths drawing away, and was 2nd two starts back; the rich pedigree colt is finding his stride.
RACE 8 – $10,000 Trot, NW $5,000 Last 4, AE Claiming $20,000
- #2 MASTERWORK (2-1) – Won last out in a Conditioned race after a perfect pocket trip, and has cashed in 6 of 9 starts this season; Fillion/Maguire is a strong combo (42% trainer win rate).
- #5 DEBRA (7-2) – Has cashed in 3 of last 5 including a close 3rd against tougher $30,000 claiming company; drops into a more favorable spot.
- #6 SOUTHWIND ONCORE (9-2) – Has been facing much tougher Preferred company; his only 2026 start was a qualifier, but he won at this level before with home class as recently as last year.
LONGSHOT: #10 NO ANGEL LIKE ME (7-2) – Was 2nd two starts back closing well, then a non-factor last week after a wide trip; capable of a minor award if she gets a cleaner trip tonight.
RACE 9 – $8,000 Pace, NW $2,500 Last 4, AE Opt Claiming $12,500
- #3 MAKE ME AN OFFER (2-1) – Won last out at this exact class level wiring the field by 2 lengths; has won 3 of his last 5 starts and is red hot.
- #9 SNACK ATTACK (6-1) – Closed for 3rd last week after a brutal post and sat 2nd most of the way two back; class relief from much tougher $16,000 NW6000 company makes him interesting.
- #2 BATTERUP HANOVER (7-2) – Was competitive for the lead last week in tougher NW5500 company before fading; the drop to this level helps.
LONGSHOT: #5 HOLLYWOOD DEO (8-1) – Won impressively two starts back wiring the field by 3 lengths; has been overmatched in tougher fields since but the underlying speed is real.
RACE 10 – $10,000 Trot, NW $5,000 Last 4, AE Claiming $20,000
- #7 HOUSTON SEELSTER (10-1, but watch the price) – Was 2nd last week (gamely held off) after setting much of the pace, and won 3 of 17 this season; the class drop into this spot helps significantly.
- #1 VICTOR INVICTUS (3-1) – Closed for 3rd last week after a wide trip in a tougher $20,000 claimer; been competitive throughout the year.
- #3 ESPLOSIONE (9-2) – Won impressively last out by 12 lengths wiring the field; has cashed in 3 of his last 5 starts.
LONGSHOT: #10 STOMPER TOM (5-2) – Closed for a close 2nd last week after a perfect stalking trip, and has hit the board in 6 of 8 starts this season; consistent if undervalued.
RACE 11 – $12,000 Pace, Preferred (W/O $12,500 Last 4)
- #7 ARTIES IDEAL (3-1) – Won impressively last out in a Preferred wiring the field; has cashed in 6 of 7 starts this season with Fillion/Fellows now driving (strong combo).
- #5 WINCHESTER PHOENIX (7-2) – Closed for a tight 2nd last week in a Preferred after a first-over trip, and won two starts back; consistently competitive at this class.
- #4 LAMBORGHINI LOU (2-1) – Closed for 3rd last week after a wide stalking trip, and was 3rd in a tougher NW9000 race two back; class drop here helps.
LONGSHOT: #6 THE WRITER (10-1) – Has 4 wins in 10 starts this year including two wire-to-wire victories two and three starts back; faced much tougher in his last two and a return to this level could spark a big effort at a square price.
