WOODBINE MOHAWK PARK PICKS SUN MAY 24,2026

5 min read

Sunday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park means the best trotters
and pacers in Ontario are back under the lights, and tonight’s
card is one of the strongest of the young 2026 season. Ten
races are carded with a 6:30 PM post time, and horseplayers
have plenty to sink their teeth into — from a $75,000
guaranteed early Pick 5 kicking off Race 1, to a 20-cent Pick 6
beginning in Race 4, to a full late Pick 5 and a Jackpot Hi-5
closing out the night in Race 10.

The headline act is three Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series
legs spread across the card, showcasing the cream of the
province’s three-year-old trotting crop.

All races can be wagered on via the HPIBET.com platform and we have provided an easy to access link to get you set up with a safe and secure wagering account.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
RACE 1 — TROT | $22,000 | NW $9,000 L4S | Start of $75K Pick 5
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
TOP 3 CONTENDERS:
1. #4 GAINES HANOVER (2-1) Travis Cullen
Class drop into a field he’s beaten at higher levels;
blocked last time out, fresh and dangerous tonight.

2. #2 WILLOWTIME (5-1) Trevor Henry
Fastest 2026 mile two starts back; photo loss last week
signals sharp form — top Exacta threat.

3. #8 DISTANCE LEARNING (9-2) Travis Henry
Won last out gate-to-wire; trainer change to Marfisi
who is on a hot 2-4-3 streak.

LONGSHOT VALUE (6-1 or higher):
★ #6 PATRIARCH HANOVER (10-1) Douglas McNair
Won 2 of last 3 in Pop-Up series with a big late kick;
draws outside for a clear trip — capable of closing.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
RACE 2 — PACE | $18,000 | Claiming Handicap $30K–$40K
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
TOP 3 CONTENDERS:

Borth/Marfisi combo produced a lifetime-best 1:51 last
week; more early speed than any rival here.

2. #1 WANNABEABIGSTAR (5-2) Jean Rene Plante
Freshly claimed by hot trainer Demers; motored late for
second last week vs. a sharper rival.

3. #4 SOMETIME SOMEWHERE (7-2) Trevor Henry
Won May 3rd at this level; unfavourable first-over trip
last week — easier ride expected tonight.

LONGSHOT VALUE:
★ #6 SOUTHSIDE EDDY (6-1) Tyler Jones
Paced a season-best 1:51.1 last week; draws the
favourable inside post and should flash early speed.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
RACE 3 — TROT | $90,000 | OSS Gold Leg 1 | 3YO Fillies
★★ BEST BET OF THE NIGHT ★★
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
TOP 3 CONTENDERS:
1. #6 BLUE JEAN GAL (5-2) James Macdonald
8 straight wins including SBOA Final; endured the
toughest trip last week and still drew off — dominant.

2. #4 TH TRIX R FORKIDS (3-1) Douglas McNair
Fastest mark in the field (1:54 flat); McNair abandons
Cher Hill to ride her — very bullish signal.

Eye-catching wide closing move for 3rd last week;
improving each start and fits the Exacta.

LONGSHOT VALUE:

much better draw tonight, likely to be closer early.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

blast off the gate to get early position.

Class drop from NW $3,100; closed well for 3rd despite
bad cover last week — should improve with clear trip.

LONGSHOT VALUE (SPOT PLAY):
★ #9 KADIDDLE (6-1) Scott Young
Expert’s spot play: class drop, strong closing kick,
Young/Duford hit at 22% win rate together.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
RACE 5 — TROT | $140,000 | OSS Gold Leg 1 | 3YO Colts & Geldings
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

won SBOA Final in 1:53.4 with a 27.2 kicker — class of field.

2. #10 TOUCHEDBYANANGEL (5-1) Douglas McNair
Lifetime best 1:54.2; beat Strobe Lite going 3-wide at 2
— draws outside him tonight, dangerous if pace collapses.

3. #5 DREAM FOR PEACE (4-1) Billy Davis Jr.
Finished 2nd in SBOA Final making front early; excellent
post again tonight — good for a pocket trip.

LONGSHOT VALUE:
★ #1 THOR B GOOD (10-1) Jonathan Drury

lengths; Bossence/Drury at 11% — live price if chalk fades.

Claimed last week after closing a clear 2nd; new trainer
Copley wins at 24% and sends him right back.

Chased Bettor B Going in the pocket last week and held;
will find the same trip from post 4 tonight.

LONGSHOT VALUE:
★ #1 TELLIT RUSS TELLIT (8-1) Louis-Philippe Roy
Beat Bettor B Going from the pocket on May 3rd;
Roy/Demers hit 20% together — difficult rail post but live.

up a class; Cullen/Steacy hit 33% together.

in 2026 — McNair/Holland combo hits 44%.

(1:51.1 winner) two starts back — freshened and capable.

LONGSHOT VALUE:
★ #2 HUNGRY HILL (10-1) Daryl Thiessen
Won wire-to-wire at Flamboro last week; moves up to
Woodbine but has the form — live if the chalk is over-bet.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

starts in 2026 — hot trainer Nadeau wins at 35%.

2. #8 FLOWING TRIBUTE (2-1) Bob McClure
Won 4 Gold legs at age 2; sick scratch last week explains
previous fade — proven stakes filly if healthy.

3. #2 KENOGAMI BELLINI (4-1) James Macdonald
Won on debut first-over vs. tough field; Macdonald/Beaton
at 14% — has upside if she stays gaited.

LONGSHOT VALUE:
★ #5 MY CLASSY QUEEN (10-1) Daryl Thiessen
Nearly won at massive odds 3 starts back; draws post 5
after four terrible draws — best post of the season.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

4-5 favourite who led last week and got tired late; still
showed he fits at this level — threat to bounce back.

3. #9 ALL GAS NO BRAKES (varies) Billy Davis Jr.
Regular Davis Jr. back in the bike; usually around the
money at this class — closing 3rd last week is solid prep.

LONGSHOT VALUE:
★ #8 DEBRA (10-1) Bob McClure
Won 4 consecutive starts facing tougher with McClure;
gets that pilot back + class drop = genuine double-digit value.

from post 6 as wire-to-wire leader in a similar spot.
