Woodbine Mohawk Park — Monday, July 13th, 2026
post time at 6:30 PM for a 10-race card carrying a $75,000 Guaranteed Early Pick 5 across Races 1-5. Total handle interest should be strong given the guarantee, and the card offers a nice mix of green 2-year-old debuts, competitive claiming affairs, and a couple of deep conditioned trots that should decide the late pools.
Key Races to Watch
Race 1 & 2 — Big-Money 2-Year-Old Filly Debuts
Both races feature Lexington and Harrisburg sale graduates with pedigrees stacked with black type — Island Girl is a full sister to a $589K earner, and Effective Control is a full sister to a $312K Sires Stakes Gold winner. These are the first two legs of the Pick 5, so how they shake out will set the tone for the whole sequence.
Race 5 — Trot, Best Bet of the Night
Yankee Boost looks like the closest thing to a “hard to beat” horse on the card — undefeated in two sophomore starts with a mile time nearly a full second faster than his rivals here. Worth watching for a short price.
Race 8 — $150,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold class jumps out from last night’s results, but tonight’s Race 8 (NW $15,000) is the local betting race with a deep, competitive field of lightly-raced 3-and-4-year-olds where class edges are tighter than usual.
Race 10 — Late Pick 5 Finale
Closes out the card (and the Late Pick 5, Races 6-10) with a competitive NW $6,250/$15,750 conditioned trot featuring several legitimate win contenders and a couple of live longshots capable of blowing up the price.

RACE 1 – 2YO F Maidens
1. #5 Island Girl (4-1) – Only filly in the field with a real pari-mutuel start where she closed in 26 3/5 late, and trainer Darling is running 18% this meet.
2. #6 Lady Roz (3-1) – Actually has a qualifying win on her card and drops out of a tough Sires Stakes Gold race into a much softer spot from a good post.
3. #1 Bulldog Belle (7-2) – Kept trotting through traffic trouble in her only qualifier without being fully tested, and trainer Gladu is a strong 16% at the meet.
Longshot: #3 Silver Moon (10-1) – Won her lone qualifier by nearly 4 open lengths, more raw speed than the price suggests for a straight-maiden field.
RACE 2 – 2YO F Maidens (Grassroots)
1. #4 Effective Control (7-2) – Flew home in a flat 26 on debut despite a brutal, no-pace setup, and she’s a full sister to a Gold-race winner who later hit :51 speed.
2. #3 Canadian Blondes (4-1) – Dropped 4 seconds between qualifiers and drove through to win, with the meet’s best-percentage trainer (Menary, 24%) in her corner.
3. #7 My Bets On Bob (3-1) – Has finished in-the-money in 3 of 4 lifetime starts and is a $40K breeze-up buy out of a stakes-caliber family.
Longshot: #1 Allstar Betternblk (6-1) – Closed well in her qualifier win and was only beaten 5 3/4 lengths in a competitive Ontario Sires field last out.
RACE 3 – F&M $8,000 Claiming
1. #5 Jazzville (2-1) – Has won back-to-back starts with a new lifetime-best mile (1:53), and trainer Timpano’s barn cashes at a 30% clip.
2. #6 Acefortyfour Daisy (3-1) – Also just lowered her career mark and finished fast closing second to Jazzville last time, drawing the rail tonight.
3. #2 Tells Bells (6-1) – Has closed for a photo-finish second in her last start and gives a consistent effort every time out.
Longshot: #8 Miss Sophia Rose (10-1) – Finished a close third to the top two picks two starts back and gets aggressive front-end driver Trevor Henry tonight.
RACE 4 – NW1/$20,000 3YO & Younger
1. #2 Over Bet (8-1) – Hasn’t missed the board in months and owns the field’s best driver/trainer ROI figure ($2.53).
2. #9 Aldrezd For Court (4-1) – Showed real grit re-rallying to get third last week and has been trending forward each start.
3. #6 D A Bodacious (7-2) – Was likely finishing better than third last time before getting interfered with by a rival who got set back.
Longshot: #3 Southern Jazz (6-1) – Hasn’t found the winner’s circle yet but is finishing competitively against the same winners as the top picks with a strong trainer percentage behind her.
RACE 5 – Trot NW2/5YO & Younger
1. #6 Yankee Boost (2-1) – Undefeated in two sophomore starts with a mile time nearly a full second faster than anything else in the field.
2. #9 Bubble Up (3-1) – Trainer Cherwaiko is running a blistering 41% this meet and this gelding won last time out with authority.
3. #8 Courtneys Promise (3-1) – Closed for third last time in a tougher spot and has been steadily competitive in claiming/conditioned trot company.
Longshot: #10 Hobnob Hanover (12-1) – Finished only about 4 lengths behind Yankee Boost last start and has been around the money consistently for two seasons.
RACE 6 – Trot NW $2,500/4 or $8,750/8
1. #9 Stable Genius (3-1) – Trotted his fastest mile in nearly two years last week, gets an easy class drop tonight, and his driver/trainer combo is hitting 35%.
2. #7 Patriarch Hanover (2-1) – The biggest class dropper in the field after taking only one cheque in his last four, which should spark a bounce-back.
3. #6 Myfriendjose (6-1) – Was unbeatable at this level earlier in the season (3 straight wins) and gets the rail-adjacent best post tonight.
Longshot: #8 Say Oui (10-1) – Scored an impressive gate-to-wire win at this level in April and has otherwise only been facing much tougher.
RACE 7 – 2YO F Maidens
1. #7 Northern Song (3-1) – Closed off a tough third-over trip in a Sires Stakes Gold race last out and is bred from a family of winners.
2. #5 Dewenitforthemoni (4-1) – Was cruising for a top-three finish in her debut before jumping it off late, showing real ability.
3. #6 Coral Cliff (7-2) – Drew the best post for her pari-mutuel debut and comes from a black-type producing family.
Longshot: #2 Nine To Five (10-1) – Driver Trevor Henry is running an outstanding $8.20 ROI figure at the meet and she drops into an easier straight-maiden field.
RACE 8 – NW $15,000 4YO & Younger
1. #5 Goin For Broke (2-1) – Has closed in 26-flat or faster in back-to-back tougher fields, showing clear class superiority here.
2. #6 Solar Voltage (3-1) – Had a legitimate broken-equipment excuse last time and raced well at this level three starts back.
3. #2 Sunset Loo (4-1) – Was a dominant gate-to-wire winner in a fast mile two starts back before stepping up in tougher company.
Longshot: #3 Callsign Rooster (6-1) – Was a five-time winner at this level in 2025 and drops back in after a sickness-related absence, offering real class upside at a square price.
RACE 9 – $8,000 Claiming (Horses/Geldings)
1. #8 Smokestack (2-1) – Most consistent horse in the field (2-5-6 in 23 starts) and comes from the meet’s overall leading trainer barn.
2. #3 Gloryview Image (3-1) – Won gate-to-wire last time out and already has six wins this season, showing high class consistency.
3. #7 The Dark Panther (9-2) – Picks up James Macdonald, the meet’s leading driver by a wide margin, off a closing effort.
Longshot: #4 On Time Delivery (8-1) – Finished second last start and carries 13 lifetime wins, showing this level is well within reach.
RACE 10 – NW $6,250/4 or $15,750/8
1. #9 Tactical Strike (2-1) – Crushed this exact class level the last time she competed at it and closed hard for second last week against a runaway winner.
2. #2 Outside The Fire (7-2) – Gets a beneficial class drop after two tough first-over trips and was a dominant winner the last time he raced this cheap.
3. #6 Galen Erso (4-1) – Was a winner last time at tonight’s exact conditions and draws the rail with McNair, the meet’s leading trainer by earnings.
Longshot: #10 Willowtime (10-1) – A career $595K earner with 5 wins and 7 thirds in 32 starts who’s clearly capable of hitting the board at a big price against this group.
