Here is what you can look forward to race by race tonight:
Races 1, 5 and 7 serve up the maiden trotters, young horses just beginning their careers and looking for that elusive first win. These races are always unpredictable and often throw up generous prices for the patient exotic player.
Races 2 and 4 feature the non-winners of two and three conditions where horses are starting to establish themselves and find their proper class level. These are the races where the form is most reliable and value can often be found on horses moving up slightly in class.
Races 3 and 10 give us the pacers tonight, a nice change of gait from the predominantly trotting card. Race 3 is a maiden pace while Race 10 is a $20,000 claiming event that closes out the card with plenty of intrigue.
Races 6 and 8 spotlight the fillies and mares division in non-winners of three conditions, always a competitive group here at Mohawk and tonight is no exception with some very talented young ladies in both fields.
Race 9 is the $40,000 Open Trot which serves as the feature race on tonight’s card and we will get to that in just a moment.
This evenings selections are now posted and all picks have been made prior to any post time changes.

Woodbine Mohawk Park — June 1, 2026 | Post Time 6:30 PM
RACE 1 | TROT | NW1 (4YO & Under) | $18,000
Looking at the past performances here, this is a wide open maiden field but there are some clear standouts when you dig into the numbers.
#4 CLASSIFIED (5-2) — This horse has the classiest connections in the field with James Macdonald who is the meet’s leading driver at 20.6% wins and over $2.3 million earned this season. The horse itself has been knocking on the door, finishing second at 3-2 odds last out which tells you the public sees it too. The 5-2 morning line feels right but he could go off even shorter.
#6 HP SOPHIA (6-1) — What stands out to me here is that this filly has been competitive in tougher spots including Ontario Sires Stakes company. She draws the best post in the race tonight and Jean Rene Plante and trainer Chantal Mitchell have clicked at 13% wins together this season. The 6-1 morning line represents real value if she brings her best.
#9 STORMONT SHANLYBOY (9-2) — When I look at this horse’s past performances, he has been remarkably consistent, finishing in the top three in every 2026 start. He has earned $9,350 from just four starts this season and Tyler Jones knows this horse inside and out having driven him in all his starts.
LONGSHOT: #1 NOTATTHETABLCARLOS (3-1) — Moving from post eight to the rail tonight which is actually an upgrade. He was only beaten two lengths in an OSS Grassroots event last out which is stronger company than he faces here tonight. Stuart Sowerby and trainer Michael Keeling have combined for a 17.7% win rate this season.
RACE 2 | TROT | NW3 (FM4) / $50K Lifetime | $22,000
This looks like a genuinely competitive race and the pace of the race will be critical. Maximum Exposure wants to lead, L P Bay has been aggressive, and Hercules is a natural closer.
#5 MAXIMUM EXPOSURE (5-2) — Douglas McNair is the second leading driver at this meet with 20.5% wins and over $1.7 million earned. This horse draws the rail again after winning from the front recently and his trainer Carmen Auciello has had 30 winners from 397 starts this year. The break last out came in an extremely fast mile and I expect him to be much better tonight.
#4 L P BAY (4-1) — The lifetime earnings of $99,050 tell you this is a talented horse. Travis Henry and Mark Etsell have combined for a very respectable 14% wins together at this meet. The $75K Grassroots Final win at two shows the ceiling on this horse is high and he figures to improve with each start back.
#2 HERCULES (3-1) — Two wins from eight starts in 2026 with $30,220 earned tells me this horse is in sharp form. The 8% win rate for driver Mark Macdonald is below average but trainer Justin Turcotte is running at 11.5% wins this meet. The post position is workable and he has been finding his best form recently.
LONGSHOT: #6 VALIDUS (5-1) — This mare has been the most consistent horse in the field all season with 18 starts, two wins and a whopping $49,450 earned in 2026. Todd Ratchford takes the drive and she closed into third last week in a very fast mile. The 5-1 morning line is generous for a horse this consistent.
RACE 3 | PACE | NW1 / $9,750 Lifetime | $18,000
The pace scenario here is very interesting. Key Largo Hanover wants the lead, Glenn E Mac has shown early speed, and several others will be looking for trips. The winner likely comes from on or near the front.
#1 KEY LARGO HANOVER (7-2) — The debut win was professional looking and the pedigree is strong being by Perfect Sting out of a Key West mare. Douglas McNair drives and trainer R. Gregg McNair is running at 13.5% wins and $470,104 earned this season. The rail post is the perfect spot for a horse with gate speed.
#5 CHOW FOR NOW (3-1) — Three starts in 2026 with $3,600 earned and he has been competitive each time without winning. Mark Macdonald and Murray Brethour have combined for a 5% win rate together which is below par, however this horse has faced tougher in his recent starts and drops to a softer spot tonight.
#9 GLENN E MAC (10-1) — Wait before you dismiss this one. James Macdonald takes over the drive tonight and he is the meet’s leading driver. The horse showed gate speed in his last qualifier, going to the front easily. The 10-1 morning line makes him an excellent exotic play if Macdonald sends him forward aggressively.
LONGSHOT: #6 WICKED WANKS (6-1) — Scott Young takes over and that combo has posted an eye-popping 50% win rate and a $37.35 ROI together at this meet. This horse won at two and has shown consistent form this season. The trainer change to Darcy Clancy could signal improvement and the price will be right.
RACE 4 | TROT | NW2 (FM3) / $21K Lifetime | $19,000
This is the first leg of the 20-cent Pick 6 and it is a fascinating trotting field. Several of these horses have faced each other recently and the form is relatively easy to read.
#9 LAND THE PLANE (5-2) — The lifetime earnings of $81,544 from just eight starts at two tells you everything about this horse’s talent level. Jody Jamieson and Carl Jamieson are a family combination that knows this horse intimately. He was second in his sophomore debut after making a big move to the front and he was a winner in his second start last year. The pattern suggests he wins tonight.
#7 BITOFTHEBUBBLY (7-2) — Two wins from six starts this season with $23,700 earned. Mark Macdonald and Shawn Steacy have combined for a 33% win rate and a $3.53 ROI together at this meet. The 27-flat third quarter move two starts back was simply explosive and this horse has the talent to dominate tonight.
#2 SOUTHWIND CHESTER (8-1) — This is the value play in the race for me. James Macdonald drives and this horse has two wins from three starts in 2026 earning $14,700 already. Stephen Bossence has a remarkable 35.5% win rate as trainer this season. He won at London on Monday then races here tonight and the back-to-back schedule tells me connections are confident.
LONGSHOT: #5 D A MASSTERMIND (9-2) — Jonathan Drury and Kyle Bossence have combined for a 10% win rate but this horse has shown real improvement in each of his three sophomore starts. The $26,830 earned from just three 2026 starts is the best figure in the field and the OSS Gold effort last out against much tougher rivals deserves real respect.
RACE 5 | TROT | NW1 (4YO & Under) | $18,000
This is the final leg of the $75,000 guaranteed Pick 5 and it is wide open. Several first or second-time starters are in here and the form is thin making this a dangerous race to handicap.
#6 FIGURATIVELY (7-2) — Tyler Jones and R. Dustin Jones have combined for a 16% win rate and a $2.13 ROI together at this meet. This filly has lifetime earnings of $43,007 from just nine starts at two, showing she has real talent. She led throughout her sophomore debut before being caught and draws the best post tonight.
#1 BEAU KNIGHT (3-1) — Tyler Borth and Blake Macintosh have combined for a 9% win rate at this meet but Borth himself is posting 8.6% wins overall from 511 starts this season. What stands out here is that this horse has flashed big early speed from post nine on two separate occasions this season. Getting the rail tonight removes the one issue he has had.
#10 UP TO NO GOUDA (4-1) — Bob McClure drives and he is the fifth leading driver at this meet with 17.6% wins and $1.378 million earned. This horse has raced ten times in 2026 earning $15,120 with two second-place finishes and two third-place finishes. The consistency in this thin field stands out and the 4-1 morning line offers real value.
LONGSHOT: #3 ICED (5-1) — Mark Macdonald and Justin Turcotte have combined for an 8% win rate together but this horse just won at Flamboro Downs and comes back to the bigger track in good form. The win at Flamboro shows he can get the job done and a sharp drop in class makes him very interesting at 5-1.
RACE 6 | TROT | FM NW3 / $30K Lifetime | $19,000
This is the opening leg of the Late Pick 5 and the fillies and mares division here is very competitive. The form lines connect well and this looks like a two or three horse race on paper.
#6 HP CRYSTALINE (3-1) — The statistics here are compelling. Douglas McNair drives a horse that just lowered her lifetime mark by over a second in an OSS Gold leg. Trainer Chantal Mitchell is running at 12.9% wins and $191,866 earned this season. The 3-1 morning line is probably fair but she has the best post and the best recent form in the field.
#9 BELLA CHICA (4-1) — Bob McClure and Corrie German have posted a 50% win rate together at this meet which is a remarkable statistic. This filly has won twice in 2026 including an Ontario Spring Series leg and has $29,001 earned already. She is a multiple stakes winner and the 4-1 morning line is generous given her recent form.
#4 SHIMMERING HANOVER (7-2) — Louis-Philippe Roy and Luc Blais have combined for a 19% win rate and $1.31 ROI at this meet. The lifetime earnings of $117,685 from just nine starts at two is an extraordinary figure. She earned that money while competing against the best fillies in North America and drops to a much softer spot tonight.
LONGSHOT: #7 KAYLAS INCHARGE (10-1) — This mare has six wins from 19 career starts and has been training well at London before shipping to Mohawk. Travis Henry and Vicki Gregg have combined for a 7% win rate together but Henry himself is the fourth leading driver at this meet with 14.5% wins. She won her last two starts at London and the 10-1 price is simply too big to ignore.
RACE 7 | TROT | NW1 (4YO & Under) | $18,000
This is the opening leg of the Late Pick 4 and it is another tricky maiden trot. The key for me is identifying which horse gets the best trip early because the winner in this class almost always comes from close to the front.
#1 CAPTAIN WILLIE (5-2) — Todd Ratchford and Matthew Bax have combined for a 9% win rate at this meet but what stands out is this horse’s consistency. Four starts in 2026 with $11,880 earned and he has been second twice in his last two starts at this exact level. The rail gives him every opportunity to get to the front tonight and Ratchford always gives him an aggressive steer.
#7 HAVEACANFORME (3-1) — Mark Etsell driving his own horse for his own stable is an important angle. When a trainer drives his own horse it typically signals real confidence. She won her qualifying race impressively at Mohawk and despite gait issues in her first two starts at Flamboro, she was a completely different horse at the bigger track.
#6 DULCES SUENOS DEO (4-1) — Michael Whelan and Walter Whelan have combined for a 3% win rate together which is concerning, however this horse has hit the board in an extraordinary number of starts. Fifteen starts in 2026 with $33,120 earned tells me he is the most consistent horse in this field. When he reverts to his closing tactics he always seems to pick up a piece.
LONGSHOT: #4 TOTALLY ICONIC (5-1) — Scott Coulter and Richard Lareau have combined for a 0% win rate together this meet but Totally Iconic just broke his maiden in his thirteenth start at Flamboro Downs with a strong wide move. Maiden winners often follow up quickly and the 5-1 price is very attractive for a horse that just found his confidence.
RACE 8 | TROT | FM NW3 / $30K Lifetime | $19,000
This is a deep fillies and mares field and the form is relatively clear at the top. Southwind Florence is the obvious choice but the question is who runs second and third.
#4 SOUTHWIND FLORENCE (3-1) — Mario Baillargeon and Susanne Kerwood have combined for a 50% win rate and a remarkable $10.70 ROI together at this meet. That statistic alone makes her the top selection. Two dominant wins in a row including a lifetime best 1:54 flat and she beat Elbows Up who came out and won at Flamboro at 1-5 odds. She is the class of this field.
#6 KENOGAMI FANCY (7-2) — James Macdonald and Anthony Beaton have combined for a 14% win rate and a $1.52 ROI at this meet. This filly broke her maiden sharply here on May 11th at nearly even money odds. She drew the best post tonight and Macdonald chose her over the field which is the strongest possible vote of confidence.
#1 CALYX (5-1) — Travis Cullen and Shawn Steacy have combined for a 25% win rate and an extraordinary $9.09 ROI together at this meet. That number jumps off the page. This filly has been knocking on the door all season with three second-place finishes and has earned $17,290 already. She was closing well last week and figures to be even better tonight.
LONGSHOT: #9 DELIGHTFUL YANKEE (8-1) — Bob McClure and Luc Blais have combined for a 33% win rate and a $1.30 ROI together at this meet. This filly has two wins from six starts in 2026 earning $27,050 and was a front-end winner twice earlier this season. She had a troubled trip last out and figures to bounce back sharply at a generous price.
RACE 9 | TROT | OPEN | $40,000
This is the premier race on the card and the analysis here is actually quite straightforward when you look at what has happened in the last two open events. One horse has established clear dominance.
#9 USAIN HANOVER (5-2) — Louis-Philippe Roy and David Menary have combined for a remarkable 28% win rate and a $2.03 ROI together at this meet from 134 starts. That is the most powerful driver-trainer combination in this race. This horse won at 1:51.1 two starts back then came back and won again on May 18th and somehow was not even sent off as the favorite. He draws the outside post which is the only negative but connections clearly know how to get the best out of this horse.
#6 HASTY BID (7-2) — James Macdonald and Paige Macdonald have combined for a 25% win rate and a $2.81 ROI together at this meet. This horse has earned $124,960 from just thirteen starts in 2026 which is an elite figure. He rarely misses the top two or three positions and the family barn connection means communication between driver and trainer is seamless.
#8 OSCEOLA (5-1) — Jody Jamieson and R. Gregg McNair have combined for a 15% win rate and a $2.67 ROI together at this meet. This horse just won at 1:51.1 last week from post four and has won six times already in 2026 earning $29,600. He is a seasoned veteran who knows how to race and will be pointed aggressively for position early tonight.
LONGSHOT: #1 SID THE KID (6-1) — Mark Macdonald and Benoit Baillargeon have combined for a 20% win rate and a $5.74 ROI together which is an exceptional figure. This horse has five wins from thirteen starts in 2026 earning $96,200 and just won a $30,000 conditioned event on May 18th. He steps up to the Open tonight but his recent form suggests he belongs and the 6-1 price is very generous.
RACE 10 | PACE | CLAIMING $20K | NW $60K Lifetime | $14,000
This is the card closer and a straight claiming race where the form is relatively straightforward. The key question is whether Coastline can repeat his lifetime best effort from last week.
#7 NATIONAL TIER (9-2) — Anthony Haughan and Meg Crone have combined for a 13% win rate and a $1.04 ROI together at this meet from 60 starts. This horse has three wins from nine starts in 2026 earning $19,000 and the pattern is crystal clear. He wins in $20,000 conditioned claimers and struggles when stepped up. He is back in his best spot tonight and figures to be sent aggressively from the start.
#5 CATITUDE (6-1) — Douglas McNair and Herbert Holland have combined for a remarkable 45% win rate and a $4.26 ROI together at this meet from 20 starts. That is by far the most powerful driver-trainer combination in this race and that statistic alone elevates this horse significantly. Four wins from eleven starts in 2026 earning $27,670 and he has been competitive at this exact level all season.
#4 COASTLINE (3-1) — Bob McClure and Eric Lafleur have combined for a 50% win rate and a $9.55 ROI together at this meet. That is a stunning figure from two starts together. He posted a lifetime best 1:51.2 last week and will be heavily supported tonight. The concern is whether he gets a following trip or is forced to lead, but the numbers say trust this combination.
LONGSHOT: #10 BELMONT BLAZER (7-2) — Travis Cullen and Jodie Cullen have combined for a 14% win rate from 784 starts together at this meet. The volume of that combination tells you they work together constantly and communicate well. This horse has $30,518 earned from 23 starts in 2026 and posted a lifetime best 1:51.1 on April 26th. He closed into third last week and figures to be much sharper tonight at what could be an overlay price.
