Clinton Raceway rolls out an 11-race card tonight headlined by Leg #2 of the Prospect Series for 3-Year-Old Colt Pacers to open the night, plus three Pop Up Series legs spread across the card for non-winners conditions in the horses & geldings and fillies & mares divisions. There’s a healthy mix of claiming, conditioned, and trot action sprinkled throughout, with the Pick 5 ($2,500 guarantee) starting in Race 1 and a Late Double covering Races 10 and 11 to close the night.
Tonight’s marquee event is the lead-off Prospect Series leg for sophomore colt pacers, and the past performances point to a real form gap between the morning-line co-favorites and the horse actually doing the most damage on the racetrack lately.
#4 WRITELINE enters off a wire-to-wire win last out in 1:57.4 under trainer-driver Michael Horner, and what stands out is the sheer consistency: he’s hit the board in 8 of his 14 starts in 2026, a far better in-the-money rate than anyone else in this field. #6 MAJOR MONEY is the clear class horse on paper — his $54,780 in 2025 earnings dwarfs the rest of the field — and he was beaten by just a nose last week after rallying from off the pace, so he’s clearly training on well. #3 LUNAR SPORT owns the fastest lifetime mark in the race (1:52.4, set at a much higher class level at Woodbine), but he did break stride in his most recent start, making him the highest-ceiling, highest-risk play of the trio.
For value, keep an eye on #8 BARBARO, who won his last start by daylight gate-to-wire and is clearly progressing fast despite being lightly raced. If post position and trip break his way, he’s the kind of improving sophomore who could turn this into an exotic-paying upset.

RACE 1 – PROSPECT SERIES, $8,000 Pace (3YO Colts, Leg #2)
- #4 WRITELINE (9-2) – Won last out wire-to-wire in 1:57.4 under trainer-driver Michael Horner, and has finished in the money in 8 of 14 starts in 2026 — by far the most consistent horse in this field.
- #6 MAJOR MONEY (2-1) – Lost by just a nose last week after rallying from off the pace, and his $54,780 in 2025 earnings shows class well above this Prospect level.
- #3 LUNAR SPORT (8-5) – Won two starts back in 1:52.4 at the WBSB7/8 level (much faster than this field), though he did break stride in his last start — talent is undeniable if he sits straight.
Longshot upset: #8 BARBARO (6-1) – Won his last start by 2 lengths gate-to-wire, lightly raced (8 lifetime starts) but clearly progressing fast with a 1:55.4 lifetime mark already banked.
RACE 2 – POP UP LEG 2 (Horses & Geldings), $4,000 Pace
- #4 THUNDERBOLT RUN (4-1) – Closed for third last week from a rough outside trip, and across his last 9 starts he’s finished 1st or 2nd six times — the most dominant recent form in this field by a wide margin.
- #3 LEFT ON READ (2-1) – Finished third last out pressing from the pocket, and won impressively two starts back by daylight; steps down in class today which should help.
- #2 ZIPPENNRIPPEN (8-5) – Was bet down hard last start and finished second after a troubled second-over trip; the underlying speed is clearly there even if the last line looks pedestrian on paper.
Longshot upset: #6 LIMBO DANCER (7-1) – Finished third last out closing from off a pocket trip, has 5 wins this year and drops back to a easier level tonight.
RACE 3 – NW $3,000/CLAIMING $15,000, $5,500 Pace
- #2 HEZA HANDY MAN (9-5) – Won last out with a sharp 29.2 closing quarter from off the pace — that’s the fastest, most decisive trip in the field, and he’s a proven winner with 45 lifetime wins.
- #4 FILLY WATCHER (5-1) – Finished second in back-to-back starts versus tougher conditioned ($9,500-$10,400) company, then comes back down into this spot — class relief is a major positive.
- #1 SPEAKDOLLARSNCENTS (8-5) – Won two of his last three including a last-to-first rally from 7th, but does need to overcome a slightly wider post tonight.
Longshot upset: #6 WILD DOC HOLLIDAY (7-2) – Led gate-to-wire and got run down only in the last stride two starts back, then raced flat last out — the front-end speed makes him live if he gets an easy lead.
RACE 4 – NW $2,500, $5,000 Pace
- #6 JANETS STORY (6-1) – Finished second in her last qualifier and has multiple in-the-money qualifying finishes; trainer Terry Fritz has been intimately involved with her development.
- #5 GRAPES EIGHTY NINE (3-1) – Finished second in his most recent qualifier showing genuine tactical speed early, still finding his legs but trending the right way.
- #3 WHATS BETTER (5-2) – Only lightly tested (one qualifier) but bred for early speed off the Betterthancheddar line; first start for the barn against winners is always a question mark.
Longshot upset: #2 TH BOUGHTNPAIDFOR (4-1) – Has been competitive in multiple qualifiers without a clear pace trip yet, and gets a big driver upgrade to Lorne House tonight.
RACE 5 – CLAIMING $9,500, $4,800 Pace
- #3 THATMOMENTINLIFE (9-5) – Has won 9 of 19 starts in 2026 — an outstanding strike rate — and was only just edged last week after setting the pace the whole way.
- #6 LARJON LILLY (5-2) – Won two starts back drawing away, then has raced competitively in deeper company (Op20000clm) since; class and recent form both point up.
- #5 AZUCAR JACK (4-1) – Finished second last out by just over a length, and is a proven winner (24 lifetime) who’s been knocking on the door in his last several starts.
Longshot upset: #2 TUUKKA RASP (3-1) – Finished third last out closing from off the pace after setting up a troubled trip earlier in the year; the underlying speed figures are competitive with this group.
RACE 6 – POP UP LEG 2 (Horses & Geldings), $4,000 Pace
- #4 FEAR THE DICE (9-5) – Won wire-to-wire last out in 2:00.1 and is clearly the form horse in this field right now under a hot Peter Brickman barn.
- #5 DARK MOVES (7-2) – Won wire-to-wire two starts back and is a proven winner (27 lifetime) who has been training on well — Brady Galliers gives him a strong driver upgrade.
- #1 LUCKY DANCER (5-2) – Has been remarkably consistent with multiple second and third-place finishes in a row, clearly needs only racing luck to break through for the win.
Longshot upset: #2 DOCS ROCK (3-1) – Won going away two starts back and has stayed competitive against this level since, capable of forwardly placing again tonight.
RACE 7 – CLAIMING $8,000, $4,600 Pace
- #3 GRACIE T (8-5) – Has won 6 of 19 starts in 2026 and just won her last two starts in a row, including a gritty late drive to the wire — clear best form in the field.
- #7 LITTLE T (5-2) – Won two of her last three starts wire-to-wire with authority, looking like the most dominant front-runner in this group right now.
- #4 MUKTUK ANNIE (2-1) – Six wins and six seconds from 23 starts in 2026 is an elite consistency rate, and she finished third last out only after a troubled trip.
Longshot upset: #1 TIMEWAITSONNOONE (4-1) – Set the pace and finished third in a troubled trip last out, and her 41 lifetime wins prove she’s a legitimate threat when racing luck goes her way.
RACE 8 – POP UP LEG 2 (Horses & Geldings), $4,000 Pace
- #2 IDIDITMYSHUI (9-5) – Won his last start gamely from the pocket, and trainer-driver Steve Germain combo (driving and training his own horse) shows real confidence and connection.
- #3 ST LADS MISCHIEF (3-1) – Finished third last out closing ground from off a troubled pocket trip, with several minor-money finishes in his recent starts.
- #5 JUST ASK JOE (5-2) – Set the pace and finished third last week, has multiple wins this class this year and remains forwardly placed in most of his races.
Longshot upset: #6 ACEFORTYFOUR JACK (8-1) – Finished third-or-better in 8 of his last 9 starts — remarkable consistency without a recent win that strongly suggests he’s overdue.
RACE 9 – NW $1,500/CLAIMING $9,500, $4,800 Trot
- #4 ESQUIRE (8-5) – Won his last start by 3 lengths in dominant fashion and finished second the start before that; 13 wins from 53 lifetime races shows a proven, classy veteran.
- #9 MAGICS ANGEL EYES (AE) – Won impressively two starts back gate-to-wire in 2:00.1, clearly the second-fastest recent trip in this field if she draws into the field.
- #6 PETER CROWN (5-2) – Finished second in 3 of his last 6 starts, showing he’s been consistently competitive with this class even without breaking through for the win.
Longshot upset: #3 RING THE ALARM (3-1) – Finished second last out closing from off the pace after a wide trip, has multiple minor placings showing she belongs in graded company at this level.
RACE 10 – POP UP LEG 2 (Fillies & Mares), $4,000 Pace
- #6 MISSY ROCKS (2-1) – Finished second in both 2026 starts despite difficult outside, second-over trips both times — the highest power rating in the field (#106) backs up that she’s just missing racing luck.
- #4 MIGHTY MARY (5-2) – Three wins and three seconds from 17 starts in 2026, and closed for third last out after a rough start — elite consistency for this level.
- #2 ANCHOR SO REEL (3-1) – Won her last start in a tight photo finish, and has been steadily competitive in nearly every 2026 outing.
Longshot upset: #5 GRAND CIRCUIT (6-1) – Closed well for third last out after sitting a tough outside trip, and has 17 lifetime wins showing real class within this Pop Up group.
RACE 11 – POP UP LEG 2 (Fillies & Mares), $4,000 Pace
- #1 HALCYON HANOVER (2-1) – Won her last start gate-to-wire with authority, a clear step forward in form right now for the Cochrane barn.
- #6 BLACKCREEK ROSEBUD (7-2) – Won her last start by 5 lengths going away, and her 47 lifetime wins prove she’s a legitimate winner when she’s right.
- #5 PHOSPHORUS (3-1) – Finished second in back-to-back recent starts and has 6 wins from 23 starts in 2025 — consistent recent minor-money form.
Longshot upset: #4 DARLIN DALLECKTRAH (8-1) – Won her last start wire-to-wire by 2 lengths, and despite an off-form race in between, that recent win shows she still has real ability at 10 years old.
