Woodbine Mohawk Park – Friday July 31, 2026

10 min read

Friday’s card at Mohawk is stacked — three OSS Grassroots divisions for 3-year-old pacing fillies, a pair of Millard Farms Eliminations for freshman trotting colts, and a competitive conditioned pace for older mares anchoring the night. The racing is deep, the fields are full, and there’s value spread across the entire program.

TONIGHT’S FEATURE — RACE 9 F&M NW 8 Races or $155,000 Lifetime | $33,000 Purse

The richest race on the card drew a salty group of pacing mares, and it sets up as a showdown between the two hottest fillies in the barn right now. Easy Station (5-2) brings a five-for-eight 2026 campaign into the race off a lifetime-best 1:49 2/5 mile just seven days ago, where she handled next-race rival My Girl Friday with authority. Sangria Summer (8-5) has the class edge — she was second in a $140K stakes event four back and owns a 1:48 4/5 lifetime mark — and the McClure/Blais combo is clicking at 23% on the meet. Verity Blue Chip (7-2) drops out of the open level with five wins on the season and figures to be the value play in the race if the two favourites hook up early.

The undercard is loaded with storylines: James Macdonald leads the driver colony and is named on live mounts in four races, Doug McNair has the call on Easy Station in the feature, and Travis Cullen makes appearances across multiple Grassroots divisions. The 2YO trotting eliminations in Races 3 and 6 give us our first real look at horses who could become divisional players by fall.

WOODBINE MOHAWK PARK — FRIDAY, JULY 31, 2026 KODA’S CARD — ALL RACES

RACE 1 — OSS GRASSROOTS LEG 3B, 3YO PACING FILLIES | $30,000 Probable Favourites: 5-3-2-6

TOP 3:

#3 HORSE WITH A PLAN (3-1) — Two back-to-back wins at this exact level with dominant front-end miles, and her closing quarter of :25 4/5 last out proves the engine is fully turned on despite the 20-day gap that preceded it (just inside the layoff threshold).

#6 CANT TURN YOU DOWN (4-1) — Four straight starts all at Mohawk with two wins and a clear second, the McClure/Carroll combo is red-hot at 40% win rate together, and she drew the best post in the field to control tempo.

#5 BIKINI SEELSTER (2-1) — Won the Dresden Grassroots leg two back, then closed well for third here seven days later — active, fit, and now picks up Doug McNair (25% win rate together), who figures to put her in an aggressive position from post 2.

LONGSHOT VALUE PLAY: #9 AMAZING ADDY (10-1) — Finished second in the Dresden Grassroots leg against quality company (beat Shuri, tracked the winner the whole mile), was only 7 days off, and Jody Jamieson’s 10% win rate belies the fact she closed from deep with a :27 2/5 final quarter last out — if the pace collapses up front, she’s closing into the money at a generous price.

RACE 2 — F&M NW $9,000 LAST 4 / NW $18,000 LAST 8 | $24,000 Probable Favourites: 1-6-2-5

TOP 3:

#6 HORIZON SEELSTER (3-1) — Drops to a level where she paced a 1:48 1/5 mile two starts back and nearly won outright; five wins in this class range over two seasons, and the L Roy/Menary combination is 26% at Woodbine over the last year.

#1 MADRID A (2-1) — Since being claimed she’s missed only one cheque, owns the lifetime mark of 1:49 2/5, and the McNair/McGuire combo is 33% together — she’ll be forwardly placed from the inside post in a field without a dominant speed horse.

#5 SEACLUSION N (4-1) — Won two back going gate-to-wire in 1:50 3/5, is fit and active (raced July 25), and Trevor Henry gives her a live steer; the wide post last week explains a poor finish that shouldn’t be held against her.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #2 AVYANNA (7-2) — Raced at the open level ($40-50K) in her last two, so tonight’s class drop is legitimate; drew post 2 tonight vs. post 10 last week, and her June 5 start showed she can wire a field at this level — if she gets the lead, she’s not easy to catch at better than morning line.

RACE 3 — MILLARD FARMS ELIMINATION, 2YO OPEN TROT | $25,000 Probable Favourites: 4-5-1-2

TOP 3:

#5 ACCESS NOW (3-1) — Led wire-to-wire in his maiden win while Bob McClure barely asked him, drawn perfectly at post 2, and the McClure/Blais combination wins at 23% — this Walner gelding with a $200K pedigree hasn’t scratched the surface yet.

#4 DETONATER HANOVER (8-5) — His debut at $150K OSS Gold was impressive until a rival broke right in front of him costing him ground he couldn’t recover — he was closing down the winner and figures to be the main threat if he stays square.

#1 THE ITALIAN JOB (7-2) — Won his debut working a clean pocket and has trotted fast in both qualifiers, but facing post position disadvantage and Access Now who already beat him — third is a realistic ceiling.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #2 DANZ CARD (9-2) — Only one start (a strong second to The Italian Job), drew post 1 here which forces him to the front or find early cover — if he gets a clean trip and the two favourites have trouble, his :27 1/5 closing quarter in his lone start suggests more pace than his maiden status implies.

RACE 4 — OSS GRASSROOTS LEG 3B, 3YO PACING FILLIES | $30,000 Probable Favourites: 6-8-7-5

TOP 3:

#8 MY GIRL FRIDAY (3-1) — Dominant Grassroots Leg 1 winner at London who closed in :25 4/5 chasing Easy Station last out, back in just a week confirming she’s tight and fit, and James Macdonald (#1 driver at Woodbine in 2026 by wins) gives her the key weapon she needs up front.

#6 TH CHECK ME OUT (2-1) — Set a track record at Dresden two back, worked the early pace last week and held for third — if she shadow-trips My Girl Friday from post 6, she’s dangerous; Tyler Borth/Macintosh at 11% understates this combination’s ability at this level.

#2 ARTISTIC DELIGHT (6-1) — Three straight top-3 finishes with a nice closing kick developing; the Jul 2 wire-to-wire win showed she can also lead — has the versatility to make the board from post 2 in a wide-open field.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #9 MALICIA SPEED (9-2) — Won the Grassroots Leg 1 at Mohawk ($25K) with a dominating front-end score, has been competitive in tougher company since, and Travis Cullen (who won four of her five wins this season) is back in the bike — at near-overlay odds given her Grassroots credentials, she’s the one to beat if the price holds.

RACE 5 — F&M NW $6,000 LAST 4 | $17,000 Probable Favourites: 2-7-1-5

TOP 3:

#9 ONE LAST WISH (9-2) — Won decisively two back going one class lower, then made up ground impressively last week coming from mid-pack to finish fourth in a sharp effort — sharp horse dropping back to where she won, and Mark Macdonald/Sucee hit 14% win rate together.

#7 LADYTERRA (3-1) — Two weeks between starts (last raced July 11) is just inside the layoff threshold, but she’s been consistent at this level, owns a lifetime mark of 1:51 3/5 here, and the Thiessen/Carroll team (11% win, $0.33 ROI) keeps her honest price-wise.

#2 GLENBORO (2-1) — Active and fit (raced July 24, July 10, July 3), Travis Cullen’s own horse runs hard every week, closed for third last out from post 1 after covering ground — she rates the board but her inability to win recently keeps her at #2.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #10 STELLRMANIPULATION (10-1) — Three wins this season, won at Grand River at 16-1 two back proving she can find the money at a big price; closed from the back last week and figures to do the same tonight — if the speed duels up front, she’ll be rolling late at a number that makes the exacta/trifecta attractive.

RACE 6 — MILLARD FARMS ELIMINATION, 2YO OPEN TROT | $25,000 Probable Favourites: 3-1-7-6

TOP 3:

#3 THREE SIX ZERO (8-5) — Chased down Unstable Genius (the likely best 2YO trotter in the division) racing first-over in the OSS Gold last week — that’s the strongest recent performance of any horse in this field, and Jody Jamieson drives him here.

#1 HONCHO (3-1) — His maiden win sandwiched between two breaks is tricky, but Doug McNair with the rail post gives him the best possible chance to find a clean trip — the Greenshoe pedigree gives him more upside than the price suggests if he trots clean.

#7 SUMMIT BID (4-1) — $140K Walner son who won his qualifier in dominant fashion dropping nearly four seconds — James Macdonald has the mount and this colt clearly has a ceiling we haven’t seen yet.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #6 MAHALO (6-1) — Was on the lead until the stretch in his last qualifier and has shown sharp early foot in his workouts; Trevor Henry/Zeron at 29% win rate is actually the hottest combo in this race — he’s a first-time starter that could steal it if the favourite stumbles.

RACE 7 — OSS GRASSROOTS LEG 3B, 3YO PACING FILLIES | $30,000 Probable Favourites: 8-7-3-2

TOP 3:

#5 MCBUBBLES (9-2) — Three wins from 10 starts including a dominating $50K Kin Pace score, ran a perfect tightener last week from the pocket and picks up James Macdonald (19% win rate at WBP) tonight — she’s fit, fresh off a sharpening mile, and the leading driver.

#7 ANGELS AMOUNG US (3-1) — Nine wins from 22 starts this year, Travis Cullen drove four of her five WBP victories, and she came back well from her layoff last week with a sharp second at Grand River — the Cullen/Cullen team at 14% win rate/14% combined handles these conditions consistently.

#2 A BETS A BET (4-1) — Closed strongly for second last out against an older mare taking a new lifetime mark, active (all five 2026 starts within normal spacing), and Jody Jamieson is red-hot over the past two weeks — post 2 gives her a clean early position.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #8 P N G SHADOW (2-1) — She’s the morning line favourite but I’m flagging her as my value because she’s coming off a 27-day layoff (Jul 4 to Jul 24) which is a genuine penalty flag per our criteria, yet she’s still listed at 2-1 — if she fires fresh (Ian Moore’s horses do improve off a rest), she wins; if she doesn’t, her short price makes her a dangerous favourite to oppose, making her the best value play to either side.

RACE 8 — F&M 4YO & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $25,000 LIFETIME | $21,000 Probable Favourites: 2-3-7-1

TOP 3:

#7 JAYPORT DIAMOND (4-1) — Three wins this season and held tough for second against the 1-5 favourite last week despite clearing to the lead in a tough speed duel — there’s nothing in tonight’s field as formidable as last week’s winner, and Michael Horner/Horner combo won three of the last four.

#2 SWEET MARY LOU (3-1) — New barn (Paul Court) and she responded immediately with a strong first-over win just eight days ago — Court’s team at 21% win rate and 50% last five days tells you these horses are sharp when they arrive.

#1 EMCEE (9-2) — Two wins this season including a sharp rally four starts back and a :26 4/5 closing quarter last out while coming off a stale date — fit now, and Bob McClure at 26% win rate with Paul Reid is the top combo in the race.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #5 LAINEY BLU (6-1) — Won two back at Grand River in 1:52 4/5 and made the top four last week from post 3 despite taking a mid-race shuffle — draws post 3 again tonight (a post that works for her) and the Thiessen/Dupuis team has hit at 9% overall but Lainey’s form suggests she’s live at a price.

RACE 9 — F&M NW 8 RACES OR $155,000 LIFETIME | $33,000 Probable Favourites: 6-4-7-2

TOP 3:

#7 EASY STATION (5-2) — Five wins from eight starts in 2026, lowered her lifetime mark to 1:49 2/5 last week, and Doug McNair (30% win rate with Fellows) keeps the mount — she beat My Girl Friday by 1½ lengths in a fast conditioned mile seven days ago and she’s the most in-form horse in the field.

#6 SANGRIA SUMMER (8-5) — Bob McClure/Blais at 23% win rate is one of the sharpest combos in the program; she ran second in a $140K stakes race four starts back and won the non-winners of three at 1:48 4/5 two back — has the class and she’s at a fair price given her form.

#2 VERITY BLUE CHIP (7-2) — Won five of 13 starts this year with a lifetime best of 1:48 3/5 set two back, dropped from the open level last week and stayed close racing first-over — class dropper who should find more daylight tonight.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #3 CARRERA SUNSET N (9-2) — Won two straight here in late June/early July with gates of :26 1/5 and :26 2/5, and she’s coming off a maintenance qualifier where she pushed last year’s Horse of the Year (Beau Jangles) — if she fires to her form of six weeks ago, she can beat this field, and the 9-2 morning line undersells her given those back-to-back wins at this track.

RACE 10 — F&M NW $2,500 LAST 4 | $13,000 Probable Favourites: 1-2-10-5

TOP 3:

#1 WICKEDPACE (2-1) — Dropped in class last week and worked out a clean third behind a hot pace — Douglas McNair at 21% win rate at WBP this year with Paul Cameron gives her the aggressive steer she needs, and she’s the class of this field by lifetime earnings ($526K).

#2 BIG NIPPER (3-1) — Three straight wins including two on the B-circuit (GeoD, GeoD) and most recently here at Mohawk — Mark Macdonald/Court at 21% win rate gives her the professional ride, and post 2 lets her find the trip that won last week.

#5 MADAM X (4-1) — Coming off two starts with her new connections (claimed for $37,500 July 3), both against stiffer competition — tonight’s class drop to a spot she’s won before ($15-16K level) with Jean-René Plante likely to push for the front and create early pace for the closers.

LONGSHOT VALUE: #8 HIGHLAND DELIGHT (8-1) — Closed from fifth to third two starts back at Grand River against horses she can beat, and Louis-Philippe Roy with Benjamin Hollingsworth (6 of 6 wins together, 50% ROI) is an absurdly efficient small-sample combo — if Wickedpace and Big Nipper fight for the lead, she’s rolling late from a clean post at a juicy price.
