Two AFC contenders meet in a pivotal Week 8 showdown as the 5-1 Buffalo Bills host the 4-3 Baltimore Ravens. Buffalo enters as a slight favorite after a strong start to the season, while Baltimore is looking to rebound following a disappointing loss to Cincinnati.
The Bills continue to operate one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses. Quarterback Josh Allen has the attack humming, and Buffalo is coming off a thrilling 33-30 victory over Las Vegas. The running game has also been a major factor, with James Cook helping Buffalo maintain balance and efficiency. Through six games, the Bills have been among the league leaders in scoring and total offense, making them one of the toughest teams to defend.
While Buffalo’s offense has been exceptional, its defense remains a concern. The Bills have struggled at times against the pass and have allowed plenty of points, meaning opponents have often been able to stay within striking distance.
Baltimore’s season has been far more uneven. The Ravens were dominated in the second half by Cincinnati last week, turning a halftime lead into a lopsided defeat. Their rushing attack, usually the foundation of the offense, has cooled off recently. Derrick Henry has found tougher sledding over the last few weeks, and Baltimore has failed to reach 100 rushing yards in consecutive games.
The Ravens still possess plenty of offensive talent, but consistency has been an issue. Injury concerns surrounding Lamar Jackson only add to the uncertainty heading into a difficult road matchup. Defensively, Baltimore has been solid overall, especially against the run, but the unit has struggled to finish games and protect late leads.
The biggest question is whether Baltimore can keep pace with Buffalo’s high-powered offense. The Bills rank among the league’s best at creating explosive plays and converting scoring opportunities, while the Ravens have shown a troubling tendency to unravel in second halves. Buffalo’s extra week of rest following a bye could also prove significant.
Buffalo appears to have the edge in several important areas. The Bills are coming in rested, their offense is firing on all cylinders, and they face a Ravens team that has struggled to maintain momentum over four quarters. If Baltimore cannot re-establish its ground game, Buffalo should be able to control the game late.
Projected Score: Bills 31, Ravens 24
Best Bet: Bills -3.5
