Woodbine Mohawk Park — Sunday, April 5, 2026
Top 3 Contenders Per Race
Race 1 — Pace, $12,000 Claiming Consolation (Pop Up Series Final)
#2 YOURTHEONE (7-2) — Top pick. 43-time winner with James Macdonald taking over. Proven front-runner at this level, and the analyst notes he could lead wire-to-wire in what is not a tough spot.
#8 BETTORHOLDONTIGHT (3-1) — Recent winner at this level, capable of challenging if he stays on stride. Breaking risk noted, but Billy Davis Jr. has a solid ROI in this combo.
#7 URIEL BLUE CHIP (10-1) — Was part of the exotic payouts in the first two legs. Needs better early positioning but Travis Henry has shown ability to place him in contention.
LONGSHOT: #4 FISCAL POLICY (5-1) — L Roy/Kevin Enman combo. Dead-heated for first four starts back at $8,000 conditioned level, has been closer recently and drops back to a comfortable spot. At 5-1 offers real value underneath in exotics.
Race 2 — Pace, $12,000 NW Conditioned
#5 MYULTIMATE SNOWY A (3-1) — Gets a class drop to the level where he last won. Aggressive Mark Macdonald replaces Plante. Analyst’s top pick for this leg.
#1 FOREFATHER (5-1) — Best mile of the season two starts back closing hard from the outside. Draws inside tonight in a 7-horse field — much more favorable. James Macdonald in the bike.
#2 SERGEANT SLAUGHTER (6-1) — Dominated at Flamboro in two straight starts as the odds-on favorite. Should get an easier trip in this smaller field. L Roy replaces Macdonald.
LONGSHOT: #6 BEACHIN LINDY (8-1) — Gets a class drop tonight and his trademark late kick should play well. Brett Macdonald has a 20% win rate with trainer Charlton in this combo. Drew the best post and could sneak into the trifecta or superfecta closing late
Race 3 — Trot, $16,000 NW Conditioned
#7 PENNTELLER HANOVER (3-1) — Seasonal debut showed plenty of trot despite being shut off. Drops in class tonight and adds Lasix. L Roy/Luc Blais combo has a 23% win rate. Analyst’s top selection for the Pick 4 opener.
#2 COVER BAND (6-1) — Strong first-over winner three starts back. Gets James Macdonald back and returns to his best class level. Schneider barn has been competitive.
#4 PESO HANOVER (5-1) — Claimed by Gerard Demers, who has a stellar 37.4% UTRS. Three consecutive third-place finishes closing well. Sharp and consistent.
LONGSHOT: #6 WILDTURKEY HANOVER (10-1) — Phil Hudon/Ronald Waples Jr. Won two starts back and has been facing tougher ever since. Four wins from 9 starts this season with $29,800 banked. Drops to a class where he previously won and could go very big at double digits
Race 4 — Pace, $15,000 Claiming Handicap
#7 CANT STOP LOU (4-1) — Won last out in his 9th try of the season, pacing a swift 27.2 third quarter. Bob McClure up, and trainer Corey Giles has a strong 40.1% UTRS. Analyst’s top pick to open the Pick 6.
#2 SERIOUSLY HANOVER (7-2) — Game second last week in a tough trip. Jean Rene Plante/Garry Merner combo (Merner at 32.4% UTRS). Could reverse the result with a cleaner trip.
#5 SAULSBROOK IAN (6-1) — Three improving efforts including a win last out. Closed in 26 and change twice recently. Tyler Borth/Rob Fellows combo solid (Fellows at 30.2% UTRS).
LONGSHOT: #3 BAYFIELD BEACH (8-1) — Douglas McNair takes over and this horse has finished third in three straight at this exact class level. Trainer Jamie Copley is quietly 4-0-0-1 this meet. With a claim entered last out he still fired a solid effort — at 8-1 he offers real exotic value for another share.
Race 5 — Pace, $18,000 Pop Up Series Final
#8 EARLY PLAY (5-1) — Best effort of the year last week, lowered his lifetime mark racing first-over. Travis Cullen/Jodie Cullen — the dominant trainer at Woodbine with 47 wins on the season. Analyst takes a price stab here.
#5 TELLIT RUSS TELLIT (3-1) — Won all three legs of this series including two as a heavy favorite. Won wire-to-wire last week. James Macdonald/Garry Merner — both among the season leaders.
#10 TITANIC HANOVER (7-2) — Big win in Leg 2 after improving effort in Leg 1. Re-claimed by Team Waxman, who clearly believe in him. Draws the outside but recent form is strong.
LONGSHOT: #9 HES SWIFT (4-1) — Phil Hudon/Jay Polifroni combo has a remarkable 40% win rate and $5.02 ROI in just 5 starts together. Won two of his last four starts at this exact $7,500 claiming level and has been extremely consistent. The Polifroni barn is red hot at 50% wins over the last 5 days.
Race 6 — Trot, $16,000 Conditioned
#5 MUSCLE FASHION (3-1) — Three consecutive wins including a dominant effort last week at even money. Draws perfectly for another good trip near the lead. Analyst says a “fourpeat looms.” Jody Jamieson/Katelyn Graham — Graham at 33.6% UTRS.
#2 SOUTHWIND DOMINO (7-2) — 37-1 upset winner last week via a masterful drive by Travis Henry. Could sneak into another pocket trip. Garry Merner barn is rolling.
#7 SEEKING SALVATION (8-1) — James Macdonald returns to the bike after two wins in a row with this mare. Gets class relief tonight. Macdonald/Thomson combo has a 66% win rate together.
LONGSHOT: #4 SHESAMANALISHI (5-1) — L Roy/Lyle Macarthur. Won two starts back at this exact non-winners of $2,500 level and has been facing tougher since. This 4-year-old mare gets an allowance racing against males and has earned over $86,000 in 2025. At 5-1 she represents solid overlay value in the late Pick 5.
Race 7 — Pace, $10,000 NW Conditioned
#2 SKYLAR (6-1) — Analyst’s top call and Spot Play. Gets L Roy back, drops to the bottom condition level, and showed real closing ability in his last two starts despite tough trips. Expected aggressive drive.
#6 SOUTHSIDE EDDY (5-2) — Morning line favorite. Eight-month layoff horse now getting a second class drop. Could lead wire-to-wire if sharp enough. Plante/Auciello is a proven combo (8% win rate but 1.27 ROI over 145 starts).
#5 MAJOR FERNCO N (3-1) — 10-time winner last season, should get close to the front. Billy Davis Jr. takes over per scratch changes; the Puddy barn has been consistent placing horses.
LONGSHOT: #1 JIMMY WHISPERS (5-1) — Jody Jamieson up, trainer Michael Kwietniowski. Finished third two starts back in a conditioned race worth $14,000 against tougher. Drops significantly in class tonight to the bottom NW $1,000 level. Has 12 seconds in 28 starts this season suggesting he’s consistently close — at 5-1 he could finally break through.
Race 8 — Trot, $26,000 NW Conditioned
#4 AMAZING CATCH (5-2) — Analyst’s top pick. Was boxed in last week with plenty of trot left but nowhere to go. Trip handicappers will be all over him. James Macdonald chose him over Pemberton. Son of Walner worth $1.2M+ in lifetime earnings.
#3 RIGHT HERE HANOVER (3-1) — Sharp qualifier and raced first-over two weeks ago to win impressively. Bob McClure/Justin Turcotte combo strong (25% win rate together). This race likely comes down to these top two.
#2 WILLYS HOME RUN (4-1) — Easy winner last week at a lower level, now stepping up. Prolific earner ($1M+ lifetime). D McNair/Rob Fellows — Fellows is the second-hottest trainer on the meet at 20.2% wins.
LONGSHOT: #7 PEMBERTON (5-1) — Jean Bernard Renaud/Julie Walker. Lifetime earner of over $713,000 and won at this exact class level on February 1st wire to wire. Has been facing Open class rivals recently, which explains the form dip. Drops back to a level he has clearly mastered and Walker’s barn has been quietly solid at 8.6% wins with $1.16 ROI over 35 starts. Can close for a big share.
Race 9 — Pace, $10,000 NW Conditioned
#7 SOUTHWIND SAMBUCCA (7-2) — Analyst’s top pick to open the final Daily Double. Class drop, outside post in a small field, and was bet to 1-2 last time at this level. L Roy/Puddy combo at 15% wins.
#6 THAI TOUR (3-1) — Drops back to his best level with Doug McNair returning. Could follow the top pick for a pocket ride. McNair is second only to Macdonald in seasonal wins (48).
#3 LARCENY (5-1) — Drops to the bottom of the condition ladder, and was near-favorite last time at this level. Gets James Macdonald back. Should be part of the exotics at minimum.
LONGSHOT: #2 CAPTAIN BUTLER (6-1) — Daryl Thiessen/Gerard Demers. Demers is the third hottest trainer on the grounds over the last 20 days at 26.9% wins and a stunning .422 UTRS. Captain Butler showed a sharp qualifying effort and won convincingly at Flamboro in December. Drops to the bottom condition level tonight and could wake up freshened at a big price.
Race 10 — Trot, $22,000 NW Conditioned
#8 DISTANCE LEARNING (7-2) — Analyst’s Best Bet of the night. Two wins earlier in the season, has been facing much tougher competition since. Class drop tonight, and Brady Galliers/Rob Fellows is a live combo. Three wins expected to come.
#2 KADIDDLE (6-1) — Gets a class drop and showed two big moves last time at this level. Scott Young has a surprising 33% win rate in 6 starts with this trainer combo ($15.73 ROI — enormous value indicator).
#1 DEBRA (8-1) — Won at this class level on March 9th and hasn’t finished worse than second in three starts since. Gets rail post and Bob McClure/Bill McClure — a 27% win rate together. Closed at 21-1 last week for second, so should be shorter and well-placed.
LONGSHOT: #9 CHIC CHOC ROSE (5-1) — James Macdonald/David Menary. Menary is the hottest trainer on the meet over 20 days at a stunning 25% wins and .391 UTRS. This mare was second at tonight’s class level two starts back and has over $101,000 earned in 2025. At 5-1 with the leading driver and the form trainer, she represents exceptional value to hit the board and complete exotics.
