UFC 249|Canceled April 18th

1 min read

As recently as Wednesday, UFC president Dana White had insisted UFC 249 would go on as scheduled April 18.

But on Thursday, White said “today we got a call from the highest level you can go in Disney and the highest level of ESPN.”

The show will  NOT go on 2 weeks from now as UFC President Dana White in the midst of a global coronavirus pandemic has pulled the plug on another major sporting event.

The news of this cancellation  come hours after California Senator Dianne Feinstein released a statement condemning the event.

“”I call on Ultimate Fighting Championship and the Tachi-Yokut Tribe to reconsider this event and delay it until a later date,” the statement reads. “We have to be responsible and mindful of all local, state and federal public health guidelines. Going ahead with this event is not the right move.”

IMHO with most of the major sport leagues closed down due to the Coivd-19 pandemic moving ahead with such an event would not have been beneficial to anyone other than Mr.White no matter where it was taking place on and island or in the middle of the sea.
