Two teams fighting for playoff berths and directly next to each other in the AL Wildcard standings play the first of three at Comerica Park in easily the most important series so far this season for both clubs.
AL Rookie of the Year contender Michael Fulmer looks for win #11 after struggling in each of his last two starts after lighting the world on fire for most of the second part of this season. Baltimore starter Kavin Gausman was horrid earlier this year starting 3-10, but has been lights out as of late, in the middle of 19 consecutive scoreless innings streak.
This will have all the feel of a playoff game and should be looked at as such by both these teams. The Tigers offense has been much better as of late, save a couple games here and there, and should be primed for a big series. This game might come down to the final innings, but in the end the Tigers will start of the ultra-important three game set in a high note.
