A big late season Horizon League matchup with juicy seeding implications lifts off from Wisconsin on Friday night. Oakland comes in as hot as can be winning seven in a row, and off their first ever sweep of Valpo. The Phoenix, who won the league last year, have been playing some solid ball as of late and come in on a two game winning streak, looking to improve their tournament seeding.
Both teams still have a shot for the one seed so this game could not have any bigger implications. The Golden Grizzlies in a year when many thought they might be down a little are just too hot right now to go against them. Look for Green Bay to have its moments in front of the home crowd but for Oakland’s Martez Walker, who comes off three of his last four games over 20 points, to be too much for the Phoenix to handle.
This is going to get college hoops fans primed and ready for tourney basketball, which will be here before we know it. The Horizon League continues to be an underrated conference and they will show on the national stage on Friday night just how exciting their brand of basketball is.
