Mohawk kicks off another stop on its “4 Nights Racing” slate tonight with a stacked 12-race card headlined by a $75,000 Guaranteed Early Pick 5 spanning Races 1 through 5. Bettors get a strong mix tonight: three legs of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots series for sophomore trotting fillies (Races 5, 7, and 9), a full slate of freshman pacing and trotting debuts for the 2-year-old crop (Races 3, 4, and 6), and a deep pool of competitive filly and mare pacing events to close out the card.

Tonight’s marquee event on paper is Race 8, where Garnet Barnsdale’s analysis tags #7 SENSATIONALIZE A as the outright BEST BET of the entire card. This mare arrives off a fascinating cross-continental story — she was purchased by Team Cullen following a win in Australia, where her 1:55.2 clocking over 1 1/16 miles translates to roughly a 1:51.4 mile rate. Her North American qualifier on June 8th looked far better on tape than on paper: she sat pocket behind a blistering 25.2 closing quarter from a legitimate 1:48.2 pacer and finished her mile looking “loaded with pace.” She backed that up last Saturday with a needle-moving tightener, dropping back then powering home in 54.2 against much tougher mares than she’ll see in tonight’s Pop Up series.

With driver Travis Cullen and trainer Jodie Cullen (a combined 785 career starts together at a strong 14% win rate, $1.27 ROI) holding the lines, this looks like the spot where class relief meets a horse rounding into form. #2 SWIFT TALKER and #1 MACAPELO SEELSTER loom as the chief threats underneath, but all signs point to Sensationalize A as the controlling factor in this opening leg of the Late Pick 5

WOODBINE MOHAWK PARK – FRIDAY JUNE 19, 2026 – POST 6:30 PM

RACE 1 – F-NW2R30000L, $20,000 Pace (Fillies & Mares 3YO)

  1. #2 MY GIRL FRIDAY (3-1) – Holds the fastest lifetime mark in the field (1:51.3) and gets driver upgrade to James Macdonald who has dominated this mare before; drops back into a beatable non-winners of two spot.
  2. #9 RHODENA BLUE (4-1) – Two wins and a second in four 2026 starts with strong late speed shown repeatedly, including a Buckeye Stallion Series win last out.
  3. #1 KISSEDBYASTRANGER (10-1) – Improving with each start, was right at the wire last week against a tough pace, and gets red-hot driver Travis Henry.
Longshot upset: #4 TWIN B FIERCE (7-2) – Broke maiden last week beating the top pick, drew well, and Doug McNair/R Gregg McNair combo has serious recent firepower (42.9% trainer win rate last 5 days).

RACE 2 – POP UP SERIES F&M, $20,000 Pace

  1. #4 LANESIDE INCONTROL (3-1) – Romped wire-to-wire at Kawartha last out (1:53.1) and gets aggressive Doug McNair back in the bike at peak form.
  2. #9 SAULSBROOK OLYMPIA (8-1) – Two wins in a row in May with good gate speed to overcome the wide post.
  3. #8 YODA QUEEN (9-2) – Attracts the meet’s leading driver James Macdonald, who has historically excelled with this mare (four straight wins together).
Longshot upset: #1 SORCHA SEELSTER (7-2) – Has a clear excuse for her last finish (traffic trouble), drops back in with manageable foes, and Jamieson/Pentland combo is live.

RACE 3 – 2YO Colts & Geldings NW1, $20,000 Trot

  1. #6 THREE SIX ZERO (3-1) – Looked like a professional winning his qualifier easily under tight lines, gets the rail-friendly outside post and Doug McNair (172 starts, 28% win rate with this trainer combo).
  2. #2 PSYCLONE SEELSTER (5-2) – Made every pole his own in a winning qualifier, from the high-octane King Of The North sire line.
  3. #7 LETS PLAY ECURIE (5-1) – Closed with good energy without cover in his qualifier, looks underpriced for a strong debut effort.
Longshot upset: #3 BENJAMIN BLUE CHIP (10-1) – Closed well from far back in his qualifier and could be live for a minor share at a square price.

RACE 4 – 2YO Fillies NW1, $20,000 Pace

  1. #5 IM SWEET ON LOU (3-1) – Fastest qualifier in the field, paced a dominant front-running win with closing energy in reserve under Doug McNair.
  2. #8 SOPHIES SECRET (7-2) – Won her qualifier after inheriting the lead, draws post 8 which should boost her price for backers.
  3. #2 BETTORDOG (5-1) – From the fastest racehorse in North America’s bloodline, closed in 26-2/5 from off the pace in her qualifier.
Longshot upset: #1 IM HERE TO STAY (8-1) – Closed from far back for second in her debut, full sister to a $209K-earning 1:50 pacer.

RACE 5 – OSS Grassroots Leg 2, $25,000 Trot (3YO Fillies)

  1. #9 HEY GENIE (9-2) – Won her qualifying effort without urging, sharp gate speed and impressive closing fraction off an Ontario debut after a productive Kentucky campaign.
  2. #2 KENOGAMI BELLINI (3-1) – Winner on debut from post 1, capable of beating this field despite a stale 3+ week layoff.
  3. #6 CANUKEEPASECRET (7-2) – Best post in the field, solid gate speed should put her forward early for a share.
Longshot upset: #4 PRESS ON BALLYKEEL (6-1) – Sharp maiden winner two starts back, just got outrun in a fast race last time and can rebound for a piece.

RACE 6 – 2YO Colts & Geldings NW1, $20,000 Pace

  1. #8 TIDAL SEELSTER (7-2) – Closed for third in his pari-mutuel debut against tougher, experienced foes, now drops into his own age group with an experience edge.
  2. #4 WE WANT EAZY (5-2) – Improved sharply in his second qualifier, taking command throughout and extending the lead at every call.
  3. #5 PLAYFUL DANCER (8-1) – Blowout qualifying winner, good debut post, dam’s first foal already won early in its career.
Longshot upset: #6 JUST KEEP FLYING (5-1) – Closed with a fast final quarter without being fully tested in his qualifier, gets the rail to show more early zip.

RACE 7 – OSS Grassroots Leg 2, $25,000 Trot (3YO Fillies)

  1. #6 UPGRADE (4-1) – Won two straight including a dominant effort, trotted a sharp 27-2/5 closing fraction last out, and gets the best post for a more aggressive drive.
  2. #1 ARKONA SEELSTER (3-1) – Just missed last time with traffic trouble in deep stretch, would have won with another stride; well meant.
  3. #3 HP IMAGINE (5-1) – Solid Grassroots performer at two, brings good recent B-track form into this leg.
Longshot upset: #7 INTEL QUEEN (6-1) – Scored her maiden win going right to the front as an 11-1 shot last out, proving capable of more than her odds suggest.

RACE 8 – POP UP SERIES F&M, $20,000 Pace

  1. #7 SENSATIONALIZE A (3-1) – Looked the strongest in her qualifier sitting pocket off a blazing pace, drops in class significantly tonight; listed as the Best Bet.
  2. #1 MACAPELO SEELSTER (4-1) – Four-time winner last season with a 1:50.2 lifetime mark, drawing the rail to show speed early.
  3. #2 SWIFT TALKER (5-1) – Got class relief last week and closed well for third; trends toward being an exacta factor.
Longshot upset: #4 CHELSIS CHOICE (8-1) – Dropped and popped at a big price last week wire-to-wire, capable of a similar closing effort tonight.

RACE 9 – OSS Grassroots Leg 2, $25,000 Trot (3YO Fillies)

  1. #4 ELBOWS UP (5-2) – Won three of five starts this year, has a good post and won this same leg type at Flamboro by a big margin.
  2. #6 BELLA CHICA (5-1) – Won the Ontario Spring series legs, just beat non-winners of three at Georgian, gets the best post in a sharp spot.
  3. #1 HP SOPHIA (8-1) – Improved sophomore effort last out despite being boxed in with no room; well worth a look at a price.
Longshot upset: #9 KENOGAMI FANCY (3-1) – Won impressively two starts back before two breaks; if she sits straight tonight, has the class to hit the board.

RACE 10 – Grassroots NW $12,000, $18,000 Pace (3YO Fillies)

  1. #4 CATTLEKISS (3-1) – Raced well in defeat versus tougher three starts back, draws a good post tonight and gets top driver call from Louis-Philippe Roy.
  2. #7 BIKINI SEELSTER (9-2) – Chased a rival to a lifetime-best mark last out, has a real shot to lead the way wire-to-wire this time.
  3. #8 CACKLE BERRY (7-2) – Showed good early speed and re-rallied for a share last week; capable of being spotted near the front again.
Longshot upset: #3 SAMETHINGONYDIFRNT (10-1) – Tried a wide rally last out in a tough 1:51 mile; worth a price look off an honest recent effort.

RACE 11 – Grassroots W/O $12,000, $20,000 Pace (3YO Fillies)

  1. #5 MALICIA SPEED (3-1) – Produced a lifetime-best win easily from the best post last week and is clearly the horse to beat tonight.
  2. #7 CONTROL YOUR BET (8-1) – Came back to motor late for third last week despite an early outsprint; could work out a perfect pocket trip behind the speed.
  3. #4 A BETS A BET (5-1) – Beat Malicia Speed two starts back, closed well into a tough pace setup last time for second.
Longshot upset: #3 COULD BE QUEEN (4-1) – Two wins from five 2026 starts and capable of forwardly placing if the speed duel up front tires.

RACE 12 – F&M NW3 Races/$70,000, $22,000 Pace

  1. #7 EASY STATION (5-2) – Three straight sophomore wins including paired lifetime bests, just raced competitively in the Grade 1 Fan Hanover; drops into a much softer spot with Doug McNair driving.
  2. #6 SHES A BULLDOG (3-1) – Tried a bold first-over move against a top-class field last out; gets the rail tonight in an easier race.
  3. #9 LAVENDER SEELSTER (6-1) – Worked out a good trip and ran second in her Fan Hanover elimination before getting shuffled in the final; one of the better fillies here.
Longshot upset: #3 KOBRA KATE (10-1) – Missed time after a vet scratch but is consistently competitive and could offer real value underneath or for an upset.
