Mohawk Park -Longshot | Selections Sat August 15th,2026

6 min read

Saturday’s card kicks off a busy day at Mohawk Park — doors open at noon for The King’s Plate Viewing Party (free admission, food, drinks, live entertainment, and wagering on the Thoroughbred King’s Plate card), with live Standardbred racing following at 7:00 PM as part of the track’s 5 Nights Racing stretch. The night opens with a $75,000 Guaranteed Early Pick 5 across Races 1-5.

The undercard is stacked with two Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Leg 4 divisions worth $150,000 apiece — Race 2 for 3-year-old pacing fillies and Race 7 for 3-year-old trotting fillies — giving fans a look at two of the province’s best young stakes fields on the same program.

FEATURE RACE — Race 7: OSS Gold Leg 4, 3-Year-Old Trotting Fillies
Purse: $150,000

This is the marquee mile of the night. Blue Jean Gal (PP3, 6-5 morning line) enters off a performance that set an all-time Ontario Sires Stakes record, capping an unbeaten campaign that includes a rookie-season sweep and a lifetime mark now down to 1:54 2/5. With James Macdonald in the bike and trainer Julie Walker sending her out in career-best form, she’s the deserving favorite to complete the Gold sweep.

Standing in her way is Bingo Night (PP1, 5-2), last year’s top Ontario-bred 2-year-old trotting filly, who shattered her own lifetime mark by more than a second in Gold Leg 2. She’s lost the head-to-head battles with Blue Jean Gal twice now, but she remains the one horse in the field with the class to turn the tables. Cher Hill (PP6, 9-2) rounds out the win threats off a qualifier score and a strong recent Gold Leg effort.

With a $150,000 purse on the line and two of the province’s best sophomore trotting fillies squaring off, this looks like the highlight mile of the night — a genuine two-filly race worth watching even if you’re not playing the multi-race sequences.

Race 2’s $150,000 Gold Leg 4 for the pacing fillies (headlined by heavy favorite A Clean Deal) runs as a co-feature earlier on the card.
